Present day residents of Stephenville Crossing are employed in occupations that are for the most part, quite similar in nature to those of their parents.

Many are employed in Stephenville at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital, and others in areas of construction and the service industries.

Some of the larger employers in Stephenville Crossing are the Social Services Department, St. Michaels School, and College of the North Atlantic. There are several small businesses, a small local fishery, logging, some home based businesses, with the major employers being the Bay St. George Long Term Care Center and Colemans Food Store.
